II Humanistic Capitalism - The basic principles

Now  after giving you a brief information about the two prevalent systems of Economy, I am explaining the third system which I call Humanistic Capitalism. The following are the basic principles of humanistic Capitalism-

A)   Right to Private Property - No Communism

The first principle of Humanistic Capitalism is that there should be CAPITALISM first i.e. the Persons or Families or Private Firms should have the right to possess Capital i.e. they have the right to own Production Units, factories, farms and Properties i.e. the Capital in any form and there will be no Communism.
Not only the people will own Capital but also the capital of all the people in the similar business will remain equal. For example all the farmers should have equal farm-land. The capitalistic system that some farmers are having 10000 bighas of land and 70 percent farmers own only half a bigha will not be allowed. There will be a fixed unit of land which a person could possess. Similarly there will be a fixed unit for residence plots and shops. You will read about these units in detail in the third section of this book.
Capital- Here I want to clear the term Capital. According to economics there are three factors of Production – the land, the labour and the Capital. The land is simply land, the capital means the money and all those machinery which are bought by money and are placed on the land to help production (in simple words factory), and the labour means the persons who work on that machinery to make a saleable product. But in the Humanistic capitalism I am referring the land and shops also as capital as when a shopkeeper works on shop and a farmer works on land to collect or produce a product.

B) Self employment, not Labor system

Wage earners are but slaves to the masters who hire them -

Present wage and rent based Capitalistic economy should be replaced by self employment or economic partnerships. Though Communists call for union of labours and surely they have improved the labour-conditions a lot but after all the labours ultimately remain labour in communist system also. Instead of small factory owners they then work for a single Leviathan industry.

But Humanistic capitalism says that no person should work as a labour. There should be no labour in the world.

Every person should open his own small business entity with the capital (farm or shop etc) where he will work for himself only, where he will be his own boss. He should enjoy the profits earn by his business. The Self employment for all will have the following effects -

·         Increase in GDP - For its self business a man can happily work for 20 hours but he can not do the same thing for another's business as an employee. Thus surely in humanistic-capitalism the total production of system will increase and society will become more prosperous.

·         No class difference – All the persons of the society will economically equivalent. There will not be different classes of Super-Rich, Extreme Rich, Rich, Upper middle Class, Middle-middle class, lower middle class, poor and totally beggars which are there at present. All the families of the society will come to the present upper middle class level.

·         More heavenly life for all - All the people will have proper and slightly luxurious homes, enough property for the future security, job security for their children, proper education for all and enough profits to spend on entertainment, tourism and adventures.

C)  Per-Case-Payment vs Fixed Salary

There are conditions when a single person or as single family is not able to manage all the works of their business and they need additional hands to work for them. In present wage system a fixed amount is given to a person which is called labor or employee and those extra works are get done by him. Whereas hiring of employees is an option for private businesses, it is a necessity for the govt enterprises to hire employees.
At present the system is to give a fixed amount to them for whatever quantity of work they do. But that should be changed. The payment should be based on the number of cases they handle. Every case should have a fixed amount attached with it and total payment of the employee should be the multiple of the number of cases and the payment per case.
Total payment of employee = number of cases he handled * amount for each case.

This system will lead to following benefits -
  • In govt enterprises (except military, intelligence, BSF etc where this system will not be applied) the govt employees will properly understand that they are actually Public Servants and they should treat the public properly otherwise they will not get their payments.
  • In private enterprises the employees will get proper payment for their work. The employer will not be able to engage them in extra works. The employee will work with more dedication on his case. And the employee will get more satisfaction and will be more free. Also employer has not to pressurize the employee to do something as employee himself will try to work on more and more cases to get more money.

D)  Swadeshi - First buy from your neighbor and then from the distant people

Swadeshi buying from our neighbor, it is not based on any hatred against other states- MK Gandhi
The broad definition of Swadeshi is the use of all home-made things to the exclusion of foreign things, in so far as such use is necessary for the protection of home industry, more especially those industries without which home-country will become pauperized. In my opinion, therefore, Swadeshi which excludes the use of everything foreign, no matter how beneficial it may be, and irrespective of the fact that it impoverishes nobody, is a narrow interpretation of Swadeshi.
